Kiting Hiatus…

For me, it seems that kiting goes through a strange type of ebb and flow. When I first started kite-flying some 15 years ago, I got all into it. I bought a ton of kites, and spent almost every weekend out flying, and when I wasn’t flying… well… I was thinking about flying. Then after awhile, I just stopped. Maybe it was the expense of trying to keep up with the latest kite designs or just that life caught up to me, but I almost completely stopped thinking about kiteflying.

Then a few years later, I picked up a kite one weekend, and fell in love with it all over again. I started up this website, I scoured the net looking at the latest kite designs, started following every event and happening within the kiting community. Heck, I even went so far as opening a kiteshop.

After a few years. I found myself moving away from kiting, until I pretty much gave it up again. This is where I am now. I still have bags and bags of kites just sitting in my spare bedroom, with the reminence of my kiteshop. I have barely flown a kite in the last 2 years. I barely get on any of the old kite sites. I’ve even thought about selling off my kites since they just aren’t getting used.

But I am reluctant to sell off or give away my kites, as I have the feeling that in a year or two, I may get back into it.

Has this happened to you? What did you do about it?
