Calling for all kiteflyers in South Florida…

I’ve gotten the urge again (see my post below). It seems that I got the urge again to go out and kitefly. So I’m looking for a good location in the South Florida area to fly. I’ve tried Hollywood/Dania Beach, and apparently kites are banned there. Fort Lauderdale beach is a bit too populated, and small for my needs.

I’ve tried Tradewinds Park, but the wind is inconsistant.

Anyone have any suggestions for good flying spots in South Florida?

I’ve heard that Sunny Isles Beach is a great kite flying spot…. but I haven’t checkied it out yet. I plan to do so this week-end with a Thai Fighter. I’ll let you know how good the site is.

Brad, I’ve flown at Butterfly World (also known as Tradewinds Park)…

I recently got word from a long-time kiteflyer in the area that these areas make for good kiting but aren’t free from hassles from “condo commandos” and lifeguards…

“North of the volleyball nets and pier in Deerfield beach about 500 feet…but still some of the condo commandos will come down and ask you to leave (rarely) but it does happen.”

    and

“The palmetto park pavilion in Boca Raton is good to fly single lined kites 500 feet south or north of the pavilion, and then you can bring out the dual lined stunt kites to fly, pretty much anywhere inside that range, after the lifeguards leave at 5 PM.”
